Automate your mornings

October 2026

Nobody makes good decisions before coffee. So make fewer of them: let small automations prepare the morning for you.

Mornings fail from decisions, not from laziness. What to read, what to check, what the weather is, whether anything happened overnight: each question costs a little attention, and attention is thinnest at 7am. The fix is to answer these questions the night before, once, with a schedule instead of willpower.

The minimum useful setup has three parts. First, feeds that refresh themselves overnight, so news is already there. Second, a short briefing: the latest entries collected into one summary, generated before you wake up. Third, weather and local events on the same page, so the practical questions answer themselves.

Keep the briefing short on purpose. Four lines beat forty: if nothing important happened, the morning should say so and let you move on. The goal is not to read more, it is to check once and stop. Automation earns its keep when it removes a check, not when it adds a report.

Review the setup monthly, not daily. Check the automation logs when something looks stale, prune feeds you skip for two weeks straight, and resist adding more sources. A morning system grows like a garden: mostly by removing what stopped working.

In Nemvy this is three automations: feed refresh, daily briefing, and cleanup of old entries. Set them once, then forget them until the monthly review.
